Bangkok, Thailand, August 28, 2020–This year, Delta Thailand and Thailand’s Ministry of Industry’s Department of Industrial Promotion (DIP) completed the fifth year of the Delta Angel Fund for Startup program with a ceremony to award winners in 2020. DET awarded the 30 prize-winning Thai startup teams in 2020 with a combined total of 3.2 million Baht in corporate sponsorship funds.
The Delta Angel Fund for Startup 2020 program started with a kick-off event in January. DET and the DIP held an open house event titled DIProm: Fulfill New Entrepreneurs. The event aimed to raise awareness among Thai startups and entrepreneurs about the Delta Angel Fund for Startup and other DIP activities or projects in 2020.

After receiving 300 applicants DET and the DIP invited 30 teams to join the Delta Angel Fund for Startups 2020 proposal pitching event in May. Each startup team pitched their proposals to the judging panel under the following categories:
- Industrial Automation: To lift Thai industry to a higher standard and elevate local production performance to the next level with unique industrial automation solutions.
- Energy Management: To help save the environment in Thailand by adopting green technology, eco-friendly solutions and water management technologies.
- Innovation: Innovation for value creation in Thai society and the national economy.
From May to July the participating teams attended special training sessions at the DET headquarters. Delta experts mentored the teams and gave technical and business advice to develop their automation and energy-saving innovation business proposals. The teams were also invited to showcase their innovation to the Minister of Industry on his official visit to DET headquarters.
Finally in August DET and the Ministry of Industry held the award ceremony at the MOI office. Mr. Jackie Chang, Delta Thailand President, and Thailand’s Minister of Industry, Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, awarded certificates and DET sponsorship funds to 10 top prize-winning teams and 20 participation prize-winning teams.
