IEAT and Delta Thailand Advance Future Workforce Development through IEAT–DELTA Samutprakan Sandbox

A strong industrial future depends not only on technology and investment, but also on people with the skills and opportunities to take part in it.

With this goal in mind, Delta Thailand and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) signed an MOU to advance the IEAT–DELTA Samutprakan Sandbox, a collaborative workforce development initiative designed to connect education with employment in Samut Prakan.

The initiative brings together IEAT, Delta, local government agencies, educational institutions and communities surrounding Bangpoo Industrial Estate. By connecting local schools with universities and industry, the programme aims to help young people better understand available career paths, build relevant skills and prepare for the changing needs of industry.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Victor Cheng, Chief Executive Officer of Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL., emphasized that people are central to sustainable industrial growth.

“Sustainable growth must depend on people, particularly whether young people have the right knowledge, skills and opportunities to participate in that growth. For Delta, this is the highest purpose of the IEAT–DELTA Samutprakan Sandbox.”

Dr. Sumet Tangprasert, Governor of IEAT, also expressed his appreciation for Delta’s commitment to the partnership. Through IEAT’s education network, the collaboration will seek to expand internships, company visits, knowledge sharing and curriculum development, while supporting local employment and creating long-term value for communities surrounding industrial estates.

To strengthen the initiative’s academic network, Delta also signed Letters of Intent with Kasetsart University and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi. These agreements provide a foundation for future cooperation on talent development and closer engagement between higher education and industry.

The sandbox builds on Delta’s existing education and workforce development programmes, including Delta Academy, scholarships, internships, technical training, and power electronics and automation laboratories at leading Thai universities.

These efforts also include the Industrial Automation Training Center, which provides vocational students with hands-on training in industrial automation, and NEXTGEN Megatrends, a programme that introduces secondary school students in STEM programmes to emerging technologies, industry trends and related career opportunities.

The initiative is led on Delta’s side by Mr. Yongyuth Pakdoungjan, Senior Director of Government and Public Affairs, who works closely with IEAT and participating partners to coordinate its implementation.

Since beginning operations in Thailand in 1988, Delta has grown alongside the country and today employs more than 30,000 people across engineering, manufacturing, business operations and other professional fields. Through the IEAT–DELTA Samutprakan Sandbox, the company continues this journey by helping the next generation connect their education with meaningful career opportunities and participate in Thailand’s future industrial growth.
