Let’s Celebrate Our 35 Years of Outstanding Growth at Delta Thailand

By Delta Thailand - Published April 04, 2024

Back in 1988, Delta made a historic decision to set up a company in Thailand. This was the start of our remarkable 35-year journey of building a sustainable company together with you. This year, we are having special activities and events for all of you to enjoy. From our veterans who were with us from Day 1 to newcomers, we are happy to have you join us in our mission to provide innovative, clean and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow!

And did you know that Thailand was the first overseas location for Delta? Our arrival in the Kingdom marked the beginning of our global expansion from Taiwan to be a world leader in power and thermal management solutions. After many highs and lows, we now see the global manufacturing industry turning its focus again on Southeast Asia for a more diversified and resilient global supply chain. At Delta, we believe that it is: “Time for Thailand”!

But why did Delta choose to come to Thailand and continue investing here? Over three decades ago, Delta management saw the potential in Southeast Asia and Thailand was a natural choice as the 2nd largest regional economy with industrial infrastructure, global logistical links and a business-friendly environment. Most of all, Delta saw the talent and motivation of our local Thai team who helped set up our first Plant 1 in Bangpoo Industrial Estate and made our first product shipment possible by November 1989.

From the beginning, Delta Thailand strives to be a Thai company with a global work environment and standard. The teamwork between our Thai and international members helped us grow from producing electronics components to many of the key products driving Delta’s global growth including power systems for data centers, telecom and ICT, fans and blowers, networking infrastructure and EV power electronics.

Today almost 100% of our Production line staff at Thai nationals and the majority are female. The majority of our engineers are Thai and our full-function R&D centers offer job scope and opportunities, unlike other electronics companies in the county. In our 35-year anniversary, we are doubling down on our investment in Thailand and welcome you to explore more opportunities to grow at Delta.

In this issue of 360, we present a very special edition of our popular DET Voices mini-podcast in direct response to feedback from you. Here, four Delta people talk about how we can have better team building and what actions we can take for employee engagement.

In the Focus section, we go to Australia where the Delta team held their first-ever partner summit called Delta Connect 2024. We also give you all the action of our Delta Plant 8 and R&D Center Grand Opening Event. This milestone in our 35-year Delta Thailand history featured the Prime Minister of Thailand and Delta Global Management.

In the Up Close section, Ms. Anchalee Jieratham, Delta Thailand Investor Relations Director, shares her personal story of growth to leadership of investor relations and brand as an ESG and innovation leader for Thai and regional investors and financial media.

In the On-site section, we visit Delta Australia’s IA team at the Appex 2024 event for Industry 4.0 manufacturing solutions and the CIS team’s massive success in overcoming logistical hurdles to rapidly deploy a Power Train Unit (PTU) solution for a customer’s hyperscale datacenter. Over in Singapore, Delta joined the UBS OneASEAN Summit to discuss sustainable manufacturing with regional leaders in semiconductors and electronics.

In Thailand, Delta Thailand took home our second PM Best Industry Award since 2012. Delta also represented Thailand’s advanced electronics industry in a discussion with regional industry leaders on decarbonization strategies at the Sustainable Week Asia by Economist Impact.

The Our Success section, we celebrate our third consecutive year of receiving the Thailand Best Employer Brand Awards in the categories of Talent Management and Corporate Strategy in Line with Business. Delta Thailand also joins the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2024 for outstanding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance.

In the CSR section, we see how Delta Thailand joins leading companies to sign an MOU for the Higher Education Sandbox Project to develop local talent for the semiconductor and advanced electronics industries. Delta also joined the King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) Innovation Expo 2024 where we received a special award in recognition of our partnership and contribution to developing Thai academic innovation.

In the Fun section, we catch the fun highlights of the wildly popular employee events held by our Delta Singapore team. The Chinese New Year lion dances, Shanghai-themed costume galas and International Women’s Day events were memorable occasions for all.

Finally, DET CEO Victor Cheng thanks everyone for being a part of Delta Thailand’s 35-year success story and reminds us that no matter what our role is we all play an important part in our sustainable growth and our future in the Townhall column.
