The Thai New Year or Songkran Holidays in April is a highlight of the year for us at Delta Thailand. Before everyone goes off for a week-long break, we hold a festival at Delta. Everyone is invited to come to work in colorful festive costumes year and take part in traditional water pouring blessings for elders, management in our case:), and even have fun water fights. It’s a time of laughter, getting drenched and enjoying the vibrancy of this amazing Kingdom.
Although we didn’t have the water-related activities this year, due to COVID-19, we did hold our customary Merit-Making ceremony to pray for a safe and prosperous year ahead. After Songkran, we observed May Day, as a time to appreciate everyone’s hard work that makes Delta a sustainable company. Labor Day is always a great chance to stop and recognize everyone’s contributions and take pride in how Delta is a force for good and change in this nation.
As a Thai company, Delta has around 17,000 people choosing to work at Delta. For over three decades, our people have worked hard to build a better future for themselves and their families. In contrast to some large manufacturers, we prioritize hiring Thai nationals as part of our commitment to uplifting local communities and supporting Thailand’s economy. At the same time, Delta Thailand is also a melting pot of people from all backgrounds and nationalities who come together for the common mission of a smarter and greener future.
During the pandemic, we Deltans have demonstrated our discipline and teamwork in fulfilling our commitments to customers around the world by taking our vaccinations and complying with the many preventive actions by the company. As Thailand is easing pandemic restrictions along with many other countries, finally, at Delta, we are also easing restrictions with alignment to government policy, while keeping some of our own additional prevention measures intact.
In this May issue, we focus on the impact of our local leaders and highlight your work to make Delta an innovative and sustainable country in your part of the world. In our Focus section, we hear from a young and talented R&D engineer and find out how Delta goes beyond simple testing to instead offer electrical engineers ownership and end-to-end development opportunities. We also explore Delta’s advantages in developing DC fast charging and factory energy efficiency solutions in Thailand.
In the Up Close section, we meet our veteran indigenous Thai leader Mr. Pitisook Chitkasem, Delta Plant Administration Director, who now leads almost 500 employees and outsourced support personnel at DET. He shares this experience and leadership lessons honed over a 25-year career in manufacturing and support services for our daily operations at DET.
The On site section features our DET Voices series as a video interview special where four Delta Thailand women talk about how women are contributing and positively impacting our organization. We also shine the spotlight on our Delta Sales stars who share their thoughts on winning the 2022 DET Sales Awards.
From Delta India, Mr. Niranjan S Nayak, Managing Director & VP Sales, about Delta India’s commitment and actions for sustainability. Mr. Rajesh Kaushal, CIS Business Head, gives the current market situation and opportunities for CIS in India. Meanwhile, Eltek Philippines shares details of a recent success case for a telecom customer.
In the Our Success section, we celebrate the grand opening of Thailand’s first Net Zero Container Showroom at Amata City, Chonburi. In our CSR section, Ms. Rachna Kango, shares about a DIN CSR project to provide an RO purifying system to a school in Kurubarapalli, Krishnagiri District of Tamil Nadu. DET also donated an IA flood prevention solution to our local industrial estate authority to help manage risk and protect our people.
In the Hotspot section, we see a video of Johnny Tam, Delta Indonesia Country Manager, on a daredevil skydive in Pattaya, Thailand. In the Fun section, we can enjoy the serene beauty of our DET Songkran celebrations and appreciate Thai culture. The winners of our 2022 DET Presentation contest are in the Announcement section.
Finally, DET President Jackie Chang gives his blessings for the Thai New Year (Songkran) and appreciates everyone’s contributions as he shares the latest updates in this month’s Town hall section.
Once again, from all of us at the DET 360 team: Happy Songkran and May Day!
