Follow our colleague to Japan, a land rich in culture, stunning landscapes, and meaningful experiences. From coastal charm to historic cities, this multi-city journey offers a perfect blend of adventure, learning, and heartfelt moments with family.
Exploring Japan, One City at a Time
I traveled across Japan on a multi-city adventure, starting in Yokohama and moving through the scenic Izu and Shizuoka regions, including Atami and Kawazu. From there, the journey continued to the cultural heart of Kyoto and ended in Osaka. Each stop offered a unique perspective of Japan, from serene coastal views to bustling cultural hubs.

Exceeding Expectations
This journey exceeded all my expectations. The itinerary was carefully curated, balancing premium travel experiences with cultural immersion. Unique train journeys, architectural wonders, and historical explorations were thoughtfully paced to be enriching without feeling overwhelming.
Highlights of the Trip
“A blend of scenic journeys, cultural depth, and architectural experiences” made this trip truly unforgettable, including:
• Saphir Train from Yokohama to Atami: Riding the train where the sapphire-blue ocean met the sky created a stunning visual delight.
• Atami MOA Museum of Art: The fusion of traditional craftmanship materials and modern architectural design created a serene and inspiring cultural space.
• Mount Fuji World Heritage Center, Shizuoka Perfecture: A thoughtful presentation of Mount Fuji deepened my appreciation for this iconic landmark, highlighting both preservation and storytelling.
• Oigawa Railway Steam Locomotive: Nostalgia met nature with lush greenery and the rhythmic sound of the tracks.
These experiences made the trip scenic, intellectually enriching, and culturally immersive all at once.
Three Words to Describe the Journey
Immersive, Scenic, Meaningful
Immersive in culture, scenic in landscapes, and meaningful because of shared experiences with my parents.
People, Food, and Attractions
The people in Japan were warm, polite, and attentive, reflecting a culture of hospitality. The food was exceptional both taste and presentation, from perfectly plated sushi to wagashi, traditional Japanese sweets often enjoyed with tea, which I even had the chance to make myself. Attractions ranged from historical landmarks such as Nijō Castle to modern museums and cultural spaces, providing a rich balance of past and present.

Favorite Moment
Witnessing the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival was unforgettable. The early-blooming sakura created a peaceful, intimate setting, and sharing that beauty with my parents made it even more special.
Recommendation for Fellow Travelers
I would highly recommend this itinerary to anyone, especially those traveling with family. It offers a perfect balance of comfort, cultural depth, and unique experiences. From scenic train rides to hands-on cultural activities and refined accommodations, it provides a seamless and meaningful way to explore Japan.

A Surprising Touch of Thoughtfulness
What surprised me most was the attention to detail throughout the trip. Every element, from transportation to architecture and storytelling, felt intentional. Staying at Hotel The Mitsui Kyoto was a cultural highlight in itself, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern luxury.
If I Could Do It Again
Next time, I would spend more time in Kyoto to explore its cultural richness at a slower pace. I would revisit scenic regions like Shizuoka and Izu and seek more hands-on cultural and artistic experiences to deepen my connection with Japan.
