Yokohama, Japan, September 3, 2020- Our newly opened Delta electric vehicle (EV) Charging Station Yokohama is a great place to top up with our DC EV fast chargers, use our V2X to charge or discharge your EV and enjoy a coffee at our Innergie Café.
Jointly developed and operated by Delta and major Japanese energy company Idemitsu, the Delta EV Charging Station is also useful as a disaster response base for the city of Yokohama supporting the local government’s emergency response EVs with charging and battery electricity deployment to the grid.
Visiting Delta EV Charging Station
You can easily find the Delta EV Charging Station at the site of a former Idemitsu gas station in the city center. There are six parking spaces with three 25kW DC EV fast chargers and one 6kW V2X for EV charging and discharging.
Parking rates are 500 Yen for 30 minutes from 8:00 AM-10:00 PM and from 10:00 PM-8:00 AM it costs 200 Yen per hour. The station operates 24 hours and the fast EV chargers will cost you 700 Yen for 30 minutes while the V2X charge/discharger will cost 300 Yen per hour.
The station’s “Park and Charge” operation theme is a new business model for traditional gas station operators to enable smart retail and a smart energy ecosystem by integrating Delta’s energy storage, power conditioning system EV chargers, DeltaGrid® IoT energy management system and our Delta-patented EV charging payment EZQC App.
Enjoy the Futuristic Innergie Café
While you’re waiting for your EV to charge or discharge, you can step into the Innergie Café to enjoy a refreshing coffee and work on your device powered by our Innergie brand products. If you use the EV chargers or V2X to charge your EV you’ll get a coupon for a free coffee and if you use the V2X for discharging you get a coupon for any drink on the menu.
Since opening our doors to businesses, our strong Cold Brew coffee has become our bestseller and we’ve got plenty of great customer feedback. We found their favorite feature is the option to use their own phones to do EV charging, choose their payment method and get a coupon for a free specialty coffee. The second top feature for users is the V2X discharging option which uses the customer’s EV battery to exchange for any coffee on the menu.
Providing a Unique Experience for Customers
Thankfully, in our first few weeks of operations everything has gone smoothly. We put a lot into designing the Innergie Café’s UI/UX, so we’ll use this time to test and prove that everything meets the needs of local users. Besides our café, customers can also use of their waiting time to check out the many tourist attractions in the area like Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, Yokohama Stadium, Yokohama Chinatown and Yamashita Park.
Although this is the first time for Delta to run a café, we found that the daily service and operations in the coffee shop aren’t a major issue. Instead, our challenges are to keep our focus on the project goals, find the best ways to promote the Delta brand and integrate the café’s UI/UX seamlessly with the EV Charging Station outside.
So next time you’re in Yokohama, please come visit us at the Delta EV Charging Station. We welcome you to stop by at our Innergie Café for a drink or snack and please feel free to relax, work or browse our selection of devices during opening hours from 7:00 AM-8:00 PM on regular days and 9:00 AM-7:00 PM on holidays.
