Delta Electronics (Thailand) Public Company Limited welcomed executives from the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and representatives from the Bangpoo Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) to Delta Bangpoo Area 3 for discussions on future electricity supply and infrastructure planning. The meeting focused on securing reliable power to support Delta’s major new expansion in Bangpoo, which will significantly increase energy demand in the coming years.
The session brought together seventeen executives from MEA, two delegates from Bangpoo IEAT, and fifteen Delta leaders, including Mr. Victor Cheng, CEO of Delta Thailand, Mr. Jackie Chang, COO and President of Delta Thailand, and MEA Assistant Governor Rachain Unwet. During the discussions, Delta presented its forecast for energy requirements at the new site, with consumption expected to rise to 81.7 megawatts by 2027, an almost twentyfold increase compared with the original four megawatts needed for Bangpoo Area 3 and the first R&D facility. This projection underscores the scale of Delta’s expansion and the need for advanced energy solutions.
MEA outlined immediate and long-term measures to address these requirements. In the short term, existing transmission lines will be optimized through load bypass solutions to support demand this year. Looking ahead, MEA will upgrade its transmission system and establish a dedicated line to Delta’s new facilities within one to three years, ensuring capacity and reliability as operations expand.
The collaboration also created opportunities for knowledge sharing. Delta introduced its energy storage and microgrid technologies, which MEA is evaluating as part of studies into future infrastructure enhancements. This exchange reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to advancing sustainable and resilient energy systems for Thailand’s industry.
As an outcome of the meeting, MEA plans to begin load switching by the third quarter of 2025 to support Delta’s transition from Bangpoo Area 6 to Area 7. Delta’s Area 2 team will also continue working closely with MEA to prepare for the relocation of high-power product lines to the new site.
This collaboration represents a meaningful step in Delta’s growth story. Partnering with MEA ensures the energy resilience to power expansion in Bangpoo and supports the company’s long-term goals of sustainability and operational excellence.
