Jakarta, Indonesia, July 1, 2020- Indonesia is the world's largest island country comprising over 17,000 islands, including the five main islands of Sumatra, Java, Borneo (Kalimantan), Sulawesi, and Papua. With over 267 million people, it’s the world's 4th most populous country and the 14th largest country by land area, at 1,904,569 square kilometers.
Our cozy Delta Indonesia office is in the capital Jakarta, the largest city of Indonesia, and the center of economy, culture and politics. This is on the northwest coast of the world's most populous island of Java. At Delta Indonesia, we have three business teams: Industrial Automation, CIS and New Business Development which focuses on EVCS and renewable energy opportunities in the country.
Before COVID-19, Indonesia was a stable economy in the region with 5% growth. Despite the slowdown, all our BU/BGs continue to focus on Java as the primary contributor to Indonesia’s economy and for renewable energy focus on the eastern areas which still don’t have enough power plants to meet demand.
With such large territories, all our teams focus on developing channel partners and system integrators. Java has 70% of the country’s industrial zones, so it's our first priority. Recently, the IA team secured three channel partners and two system integrators, and this year targets two new channel partners.
To build up Delta’s brand image, we cooperate with the Indonesian government for customer recommendations, the Ministry of Industry, state companies like PLN and Pertamina and the country’s top engineering universities.
Delta IA is helping to upgrade local engineering talent by working with universities to support the Delta automation lab and make the students familiar with our products. We work with Atma Jaya University and will continue cooperating with bigger universities like the University of Indonesia and Bandung Institute of Technology.
Our IA team focuses on Indonesia’s F&B market, the largest part of the manufacturing sector (24.5%) by numbers of firms and has micro to large scale players contributing 29% of the national manufacturing GDP, 24% of exports and employing 33% of the total workforce.
Delta IA’s chief strength in Indonesia is our ability to move from product business to smart manufacturing solutions that help manufacturing customers modernize their factories. We have a complete range in the country from component level to management level, an IoT structure solution, which we use for Industry 4.0 applications.
In addition, IA develops our business in the automotive manufacturing industry, the second-largest in Southeast Asia after Thailand. Our EVCS team cooperated with partners to install the first 150kW Ultra Fast Charger in Southeast Asia at PLN. We also cooperate with Mitsubishi in Indonesia to promote our EV chargers. Now we installed 25kw DC chargers at 25 of Mitsubishi dealers for their customers to use and offer AC Mini Plus chargers to Mitsubishi EV buyers for home use.
By working together with our local partners we are confident we will emerge from COVID-19 to build a smarter and greener Indonesia together!
