Hanoi, Vietnam, September 22, 2020- Delta Vietnam successfully completed and passed the certification of Vietnam’s first Uptime Institute Tier Certification of Constructed Facility (TCCF) green data center for HTC-ITC, a subsidiary of Hanoi Telecom. The new data center, at the HTC building in Hoa Lac High Tech Park, offers users in Vietnam with better connectivity and provides an excellent service for HTC-ITC’s customers.
Our eight-month data center project included facility construction and a three and a half month installation period for data center infrastructure. Upon completion, the data center comprises 445 square meters of white space for IT equipment, including server racks, and gray space that includes a power room for power and battery solutions. In total, it has 150 racks which feature 750kW + 750kW for redundant protection.
The rigorous certification process for the prestigious Uptime Institute included three stages:
Tier III data centers have a 99.982% uptime percentage per year. The maximum total yearly downtime is 94.6 minutes or 1.5768 hours. Unlike Tier I and Tier II, these facilities require no shutdowns when equipment needs maintenance or replacement.
This project’s TCCF process included live system demonstrations under real-world conditions, validating performance according to Tier objectives.
Each test item isolated equipment to prove zero impact to the normal data center operations. Float voltage on the isolated equipment must be close to 0, which requires excellent power cable management, with properly balanced load and grounding. For cooling, there must be no hotspots with temperature exceeding 25 degrees Celsius, which requires a detailed simulation of the cooling unit arrangement.
Delta attributes the entire project’s success to its unique position as a professional data center solution provider with consultant design ability, in contrast with other local companies providing only standard products. Most importantly, Delta was the sole provider in Vietnam to take on the enormous challenge of the Uptime Institute data center verification process and comply with 2N Tier III availability and reliability standards.
The project consultants worked with Delta’s strong technical team on the design and shared their experience on the testing procedures. Meanwhile, Delta leveraged synergies between its global solutions development teams and local team. In addition, Delta leveraged the superior smart design of its in-row cooling solution to pass the rigorous cooling isolation test.
Compared with traditional data center installations, Delta’s cutting-edge modular data center design enabled a more easy and efficient installation. Delta’s modular and scalable data center architecture gives HTC-ITC a powerful, flexible and resilient solution. The green data center has a PUE value of 1.4, which is lower than other data centers in the Vietnam market. In addition, it has excellent energy saving for its UPS and cooling system.
“The Delta team is honored to be the first solutions provider in Vietnam to build an Uptime 2N Tier III TCCF certified turnkey data center. Vietnam is an important market in the Southeast Asian region and we will continue to strive to exceed customer expectations every time. We are also glad to have the chance to work seamlessly with HTC-ITC for the honor of establishing Vietnam’s first TCCF certified data center,” Tony Meng, Country Manager for Delta in Vietnam, said.
