Delta Thailand President Message: Happy International Women’s Day in the Year of the Rabbit!

By Jackie Chang - Published March 27, 2023

Dear DET Family,
I hope you are all well. This year we had an early Lunar New Year in late January instead of February. In 2023, we welcomed in the Year of the Rabbit or Year of the Cat in Vietnam. In Chinese culture, the Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity. In Vietnam, the Year of the Cat is believed to bring good luck and smooth sailing. So we certainly hope we can take a big leap forward together in 2023!

In March, we celebrate International Women’s Day and this year’s theme is Embrace Equity. This is a core part of our Diversity Equity and Inclusion initiative we are started at Delta last year. Now you may have heard about equality but what is equity and how is it different? Well let’s say for example, with equality we give everyone the same type of ladder to pick fruit from a tree. However, with equity, we need to recognize not everyone can use the same type of ladder and provide alternative for them to reach the fruit.

Today, we can’t have a one-size-fits-all policy but need to give support to people with different needs because we care about everyone’s success. At Delta we have breastfeeding rooms, special production lines and different hours for pregnant women. We have English, Chinese and Thai language classes and scholarships for continuing learning. Women’s Day is a good opportunity to see the progress we made and see where we can continue to work on equity such as having more women in management and leadership roles.

Recently, we have made many improvements for work and life at our sites. At Plant 5 canteen we are renovating the scan card and building entrance area at the front gate. We are also building a new IT facility in this area. These changes will make your daily scan in process and work at the factory smoother. We also renovated our Board Room to facilitate productive meetings and improve the image of Delta in public conferences.

This year, Delta Thailand has reached exciting new milestones in our business growth and sustainability. In February I had had the honor to join our friends and media to officially open our Bangkok City Office at 66 Tower in Udomsuk. We want everyone in Thailand to know that Delta’s services go beyond manufacturing; we provide solutions to protect us from PM2.5, charge our EVs and make our homes safer.

Additionally, we signed a MOU with SCG Cleanergy for cooperation in renewable energy supply to our factories as we move toward our target of 100% renewable energy by 2030.

In February, we hosted our top Thai university partners in our 1st Delta Power Electronics Committee meeting. At our meeting, we shared progress of our 1st Delta Power Electronics Lab we opened last year at King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok. We also discussed plans for expanding the power electronics lab to other partner universities. At the same time, I am very happy to see our ER team and Delta volunteers continuing the excellent work to renovate and provide computers and equipment to rural schools in Thailand.
Finally, I want to remind you that you are an important part of Delta. I hope you can see the impact that your work is having to Thailand and customers around the world. Together we can make a better tomorrow for everyone!

Yours sincerely,
