Delta Thailand President Message September 2021: Stronger Together!

By Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL. - Published September 15, 2021

Dear DET Family,

Despite the seriousness of the COVID-19 situation in Thailand, Australia and India, I hope you are staying safe and positive wherever you are. We appreciate your daily actions that are helping to keep everyone safe such as following safety rules or choosing vaccines to protect yourself, your families and our nation.

I also want to say a big thank you to all the Delta Thailand teams who are working to get vaccines to our people. Many of our Delta Family members in Thailand are already vaccinated as planned and we will continue until everyone can get the chance to vaccinate. Delta will continue to invest in employee safety and take care of every single employee while minimizing operational disruption.

Since my last update, we have been adding additional COVID-19 safety measures for you including:

  • Bus partitions to separate each seat. Please try to avoid talking or eating and remember to wear your seat belt.
  • Free rapid Antigen testing onsite.
  • Free comfortable isolation room for those waiting to be admitted to the hospital.
  • Joining the Government Factory Sandbox Program to help everyone continue working.
  • Doubling the manpower to assist in implementing more COVID-19 prevention actions.
  • As hospital beds become more difficult to get, Delta will persist to ensure every single affected employee is looked after including securing a hospital bed.

Our staggered lunch and break hours to prevent crowding have been in effect for several months and I would like to thank you for cooperating.

Just as Delta does everything to protect you, we also expect everyone to do their part to protect their family and this includes taking vaccination as the most important step. All quarantined employees will continue to get paid leave so they can take care of themselves without additional stress.

Although many businesses are struggling to survive during COVID, Delta is here to stay and we will continue helping to build a prosperous Thailand with you. You may see many other factories in Thailand hiring migrant workers from other countries to cut costs. However, at Delta, we put our communities first by only hiring Thai citizens for our production line work.

Even during the pandemic, we are helping create thousands of new jobs for Thais. Delta continues to follow sustainable development principles and this includes global standards like the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA). Based on the RBA, we are now gradually implementing 7-shift 6-run for operators which gives you more rest time even if we need to hire more people.

However, our growing business isn’t guaranteed as there are external factors beyond our control. For example, material shortage due to country restrictions during the pandemic, vendor factory closure due to increased infection rate and global key material shortage. Therefore, we must all seize current opportunities to do as much as we can to be prepared for the worst scenario.

Finally, I am proud to announce that DET has won the Thailand Energy Awards again in 2021. This is the 6th year of TEA awards after recognitions in 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. This year we also sponsored Thai student teams at the first-ever virtual Delta Cup and we collaborated with the Ministry of Industry to launch a virtual Hackathon event for our 2021 Angel Fund for Startups.

Meanwhile, Delta supported the Chachoengsao Social Security Office by opening our new DET7 factory as a COVID-19 vaccination center. We also donated our used carton boxes to SCGP to make eco-friendly field hospital beds.

Lastly, please remember to register on the Delta official LINE account to always get the latest useful information. You can also look forward to our new Delta 99 series where we will share more details about our continuous improvement actions. I also look forward to meeting you via videos on Delta 99 so we can get to know each other better and communicate more directly as friends do.

Thank you all for helping our Delta Family to overcome continuing challenges and grow Stronger Together!

Yours sincerely,

Jackie Chang
