Before the pandemic, we made our first Delta company video in Thailand called “Life Gets Better With Change” and today as finally see the end of COVID-19 we are ready to release our second video in the series. Our second video continues on the theme of change with the focus now on each one of us to do our part to “Be the Change” that we want to see in the world.
We all know that change is the only constant in this world. Yet a few short years ago, no one ever imagined that the whole world could be quickly locked down and our everyday behavior could be so restricted by a disease.
The fact is, the world was already moving to digital and remote working and life for many years with technologies like 5G, IoT, big data and automation. The only thing the pandemic did was speed up the whole transformation which made us sit up and take notice.
So instead of waiting for some global disease or disaster to make changes, we can start making small but proactive changes to improve our lives and help our families. For example, we can wear motorcycle helmets or use child seats and seat belts while driving. This simple choice could save lives and help reduce Thailand’s world-record high road death rate.
We can buy health and vehicle insurance and save our money to prepare for emergencies like floods, accidents or diseases. We can buy less but better quality products to reduce waste going to landfills, rivers and the sea around our communities.
At Delta, we can look around at the way we work. Is it efficient? Are we just doing the same routine work every day, or are we actively looking for continuous improvement? If we are not always moving forward and improving then we will be left behind in the market.
Are we improving Delta’s people and culture? If we want to continue the high growth of our early days, we must be willing to share both the risks and rewards equally. We must trust our teammates and invest in empowering our next-gen. Delta leaders leave a personal legacy and contribute to our organization by selflessly helping others to reach their full potential and developing talents who in turn will bring success to Delta far into the future.
In this September issue, we take a look at how we are changing for the better at Delta. In our Focus section, we see how Delta EMEA implemented the Delta Grid solution at their headquarters to enable the older building to use solar power and energy management to power EV chargers in the parking area. We also see how the DET IA team implemented the VTScada for a Facility Control System for the first time in Southeast Asia at our new Plant 7.
In our 12 edition of the DET Voices series, we hear from four Delta women about what makes a professional. In the Our People section, we check out this year’s winning teams from top Thai universities at the Delta Cup. In Singapore, we look at a successful data center power project for M1 and over in India, we see the latest business developments for display solutions in metro and railway applications.
In the Up Close section, we chat with our genius yet humble leader and Delta Thailand CIO Mr. Jimmy Chen, who shares lessons from a rich career experience and a rare mix of domain IQ and management EQ that he uses to continuously improve our IT systems and future talent.
In the Our Success section, we celebrate the official LEED Gold certification of our new Plant 7 and the upgrade of DET’s ESG rating by MSCI. Over in India celebrate the milestone of 6,000 EV chargers installed in the country.
In our CSR section, we follow the 2022 Northern Thailand Scholarships project to the mountains of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai province where Delta encourages and supports needy students in rural schools. Our Delta volunteers join a local activity to replant mangrove trees in the coastal area around our Delta factories.
In the Hotspot section, we take a road trip to Thailand’s Kanchanaburi Province on the border with Myanmar to see the historical, natural and cultural heritage of this frontier. We also take a road trip to the Northernmost tip of Australia. In the Fun section, we get a look at the action during our 2022 Interns Plant Tour at Delta Thailand HQ. The Announcement section gives updates on our upcoming Long Service Awards 2022 and the 2022 DET 6S Awards.
Finally, DET President Jackie Chang shares his thoughts on what sustainability means at Delta Thailand in this month’s Town hall section.
