Narong Pluemjit’s journey at Delta Electronics truly showcases the power of dedication, curiosity, and the willingness to embrace new challenges. For over 20 years, Narong has evolved from a young engineer to the Head of the Mechanical Department at the Delta Automotive Plant. His path has taken him from managing local operations to leading global teams, including exciting opportunities in Slovakia and India. His story is one of inspiration for both seasoned employees and the new generation looking to make their mark at Delta.
Narong reflects on his early days at Delta with a smile. “I started as an engineer, like many here at Delta. But thanks to the opportunities given to me, I was able to prove myself,” he shares. Delta didn’t just provide a job; it offered Narong the chance to learn, design, and create solutions that made production lines more efficient. Over time, his role expanded, and he found himself stepping up to manage entire departments and major production lines for Automotive Europe.
One of the most transformative moments in Narong’s career came when Delta expanded its operations to Slovakia. “I was given the opportunity to travel there and learn about their processes. It was exciting but also a big adjustment, as working overseas was nothing like working in Thailand,” he admits. Despite the initial nerves, Narong quickly adapted, building relationships with the team in Slovakia and bringing innovative ideas to the table. This experience led to many improvements in the production line, which hadn’t been implemented before.
The same determination and adaptability were required when Narong was sent to India, where the work culture was vastly different. “In India, teamwork is strong, and when there's an issue, everyone comes together to solve it,” he notes. The collaborative spirit of the team in India left a lasting impression on him, and Narong speaks highly of their resilience and problem-solving mindset.
When asked about the challenges of working in different countries, Narong explains that each place had its unique aspects. Slovakia had a higher cost of living, but its environment was easy to adjust to once he got used to the new lifestyle. India, on the other hand, presented different challenges in terms of safety and environment, but he soon found himself appreciating the new culture and the strengths of the team there.
Narong believes that these international experiences have not only broadened his perspective but have also enriched his contributions back in Thailand. “I brought back a lot of ideas and methods from both Slovakia and India to share with our team here,” he says. His insights into global best practices have been invaluable in keeping Delta Thailand competitive. “I often tell the team that we need to keep improving, or we’ll fall behind. Learning from others, no matter how far away they are, is key to our success.”
Narong is especially grateful for the opportunities Delta has provided. He extends his heartfelt thanks to Mr. TB Seow and Mr. KK Sim for giving him the opportunity to work abroad, which played a crucial role in his career development. He regularly shares his experiences with his team, many of whom express admiration for his journey and see it as a unique blend of work and adventure. “We worked hard, but we also got to explore and enjoy the local culture. It was fun and fulfilling at the same time.”
His advice for the next generation of Delta employees is grounded in the value of continuous learning and perseverance. “While younger employees may still be gaining experience, it’s essential to remain open to learning from those who have come before you. Above all, never stop thinking and seeking solutions. There are always ways to push boundaries, and by thinking creatively and staying determined, you can overcome any challenge. Success is within reach if you commit fully to the effort.”
As for Delta’s future, Narong hopes to see more opportunities like the ones he’s had. He believes in the idea of forming a Global Support Team, where specialists from different areas could share their expertise with teams around the world. “It would be a great way to keep learning and growing together, and I think it would benefit Delta immensely.”
Narong Pluemjit’s journey at Delta is a testament to what’s possible when talent meets opportunity. His experiences across continents have not only shaped his career but also contributed to Delta’s global success. His story reminds us that with perseverance, curiosity, and a willingness to embrace the unknown, we can achieve great things. As Delta continues to grow, it’s employees like Narong who embody the spirit of innovation and collaboration that drives the company forward.
