Interview with our first DET e-learning contest winners
By David Nakayama, DET Corp Comms
Bangkok, Thailand, June 16, 2020-Delta Thailand HR launched a new DET E-learning platform with a contest for employee trainees to showcase their skills and get the chance win a prize. Each participant made their own e-learning course to upload on the platform. DET HR then evaluated all the applicant courses and selected the best ones based on knowledge, accuracy, user-friendliness and interactivity.
At an awards ceremony, the creators of the five best courses received a cash prize of 2,500 to 10,000 Baht and a certificate of recognition. Congratulation to the winners!
After collecting their prizes, we talked with the top three prize winners Ms. Nichapa Setphol, DET HR-Training; Mr. Samart Jinmanee, DET IT; Mr. Kreethakorn Sangkhakul, DET Employee Welfare and Government Public Affairs (from left to right in above picture); about their e-learning courses and experiences as DET trainers.
Can you tell us about your e-learning course?
Kreethakorn Sangkhakul: I created a two-part course about Delta welfare and benefits and Thailand’s social security system. Thais don’t always know about all the retirement benefits available to them when they need it or when they retire. So with my course, employees can learn about the many aspects of social security and get an overview of the updates and benefits of the system.
Nichapa Setphol: My course is about Basic Electro Static Discharge (ESD). This is a mandatory basic course and I teach it to new operators as part of my role in the Training Department. I have five years of experience in basic ESD.
Samart Jinmanee: I made a course to introduce Delta’s information system to our new staff. New employees need to learn a lot of new IT rules and how to use our technology and online application (OA) system. The most important thing for newcomers to remember from my course is they need to make their own username and password to request their attendance records and check their monthly payslip.
Why did you choose this subject?
Nichapa Setphol: I wanted new staff to know how to protect themselves and our products better. We all have to take mandatory classes but sometimes it’s easy to forget details, so it’s good to have an online resource to brush up on the facts. I’d like everyone on the line and even in the office to know and understand the impact of ESD on Delta’s business.
Samart Jinmanee: When employees first join Delta they don’t know how to check their own work details and processes. I want DET staff to realize how the OA system can safeguard their workers' compensation and benefits. For example, if there is an error in the machine or system when you scan your time card at the clock in/out, your salary will have deductions by mistake. Now that we have the mobile OA system all DET employees can keep track of their own work hours and do processes on their smartphone without using a computer.
Kreethakorn Sangkhakul: I work near the HR department so I always see employees come to ask about social security issues. Most of the time they only need basic information and so I asked HR about it and summarized the top questions everyone had about social security to make a course in an FAQ format. Because I was previously in HR, I’m familiar with many of the welfare and benefits that DET offers and I combined it with social security information for my e-learning course.
How can taking this e-learning help your job at Delta?
Nichapa Setphol: By following our basic safety instructions you can get better at your job and get a better performance rating. ESD safety protects everyone’s health and cuts down on wasted time and materials. Paying attention to ESD procedures also helps us deliver the best quality products to our customers which helps the company.
Samart Jinmanee: Following DET IT policy protects everyone. We need to protect confidential data. You cannot take photos inside the company's restricted areas or use a USB to copy files from company computers. If you know this and follow the rules you won’t have any problems. But not following rules can damage the company. For example, it takes three years to produce a product drawing so if you share this outside it’s not good for the company at all. So learning about what data to protect and how to do it will make you more responsible.
Kreethakorn Sangkhakul: It’s good to know the updates of our company’s benefits and Thailand’s social security. DET gives everyone a warm welcome by showing you the many benefits you can get here compared with other companies in the electronics industry. This can motivate you to do your best to improve your life at Delta.
What did you do to become an expert in your subject?
Nichapa Setphol: I spent a lot of time watching the operations on the production line so I can recognize the correct procedure. During my time training new staff, I analyzed how to explain key concepts and use the words that our operators can easily understand.
Samart Jinmanee: During my routine work in IT, I observe and study all the time. I get a lot of experience troubleshooting everyone’s computers. I improved my job skills at Delta training and by asking my supervisors. Most of all I have a passion to learn.
Kreethakorn Sangkhakul: I wouldn’t say I’m an expert, but I asked the supervisor of HR and government relations for advice and knowledge on the topics. Then I did a lot of research on the internet about how to make good power points and load icons etc. This helped me produce this e-learning course.
How do I become a DET Internal Trainer?
You can share your skills and win a prize too. In 2020, DET will certify up to 30 trainers so don’t miss out on this opportunity! To find out more about the internal training program, please contact the following staff:
